Everyone has different ways and methods of cleaning and for some, cleaning your kitchen can feel like a chore, but for others, it can be seen as a leisurely activity. However, we could all benefit from a few cleaning hacks that can help you save time.
Below, we have compiled some of the common kitchen cleaning hacks that will help you clean your kitchen quickly and effectively.
If you find that the woodwork in your kitchen is looking worn or faded, chances are, it just needs a bit of polish to spruce it up. The polish that is commonly recommended is comprised of white vinegar and lemon oil in equal parts. Then, by putting it into a spray bottle and spraying directly onto a microfiber cloth, you can use it to wipe down cabinets and surfaces that may need a new lease of life.
Sinks & Drains
With heavy use and little maintenance, drains can get clogged up over time and there is a range of natural solutions that you could use to clean your drains. Using dish soap and water can help cut through the grease on the sides of the drains which is likely to be the cause behind the blockage if you regularly wash your dishes and cookware. Dripping a bit of dish soap down the drain and running a bit of warm water should help break down the grease leaving your drain refreshed.
If your kitchen has a stainless-steel sink, you may find that it gets dull as time goes on. If you’re wondering how you can regain that youthful spark, there is just the trick to help make your sink shine again. Firstly, start off by cleaning the stainless steel sink with a non-abrasive cleaner and proceed to dry the sink with a cloth. Pour about a quarter cup of flour onto the sink and buff it into the surface with a paper towel or cloth in a circular motion until you start to see if shine. You can then wipe away the extra flour and you should be left with a sparkling sink.
A microwave has a large amount of food passing through it and chances are, you may find bits of dried food or liquid substances stuck to the sides or bottom. A natural solution that many people use to loosen food waste that is stuck inside of the microwave is by using a mixture of water and lemon. Simply slice the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into half a cup of water. Then, drop the lemon in the cup and leave the microwave on high for 3 minutes or until the juice comes to a boil. After that, you can leave the solution in to sit for 5 minutes. This will help loosen food or grease inside the microwave which you can then wipe down.
If you’re a keen coffee drinker, you’ll notice that coffee stains somehow stick around even after washes and can be a pain to get rid of. The best way to deal with those pesky coffee stains is to sprinkle some baking soda onto the surface or cup, add a bit of water to create what will look like a thick paste and proceed to scrub it. You’ll notice that the baking soda will slowly break down the stain leaving you to wash the surface or cup restoring it to its prior state.
By using some of our tools your kitchen can hopefully become more functional and aesthetically pleasing while also being a safer place in which to prepare food.
